The Fractured Prune
Best Donuts In Rehoboth Beach!
Rehoboth Beach isn't known for donuts, but the Fractured Prune has sure made it's mark in this small beach town!
There is no other place like it anywhere in Rehoboth! (Or anywhere on the other Delaware beaches.)
Sure, you have your occasional morning coffee shops which have pastries and maybe a donut selection or two. But where else can you get hand made, fresh donuts with tons of different varieties?
We recently stumbled upon this place on our drive back from Coastal Highway one late morning. We were a bit hungry, and had always wanted to try this place.
Besides, their sign was intriguing! A purple prune drinking a cup of coffee and eating a donut. We saw it plastered all over Rehoboth!
We just had to try it and see how good it truly was.
Here we are standing in front of the Fractured Prune. You can't miss the place due to it's bright purple color.
We gathered ourselves together and took a walk inside.
Immediately, we were surrounded by bright purple walls, green chairs, colorful tables and the sweet aroma of freshly baked donuts. We def. weren't in the North East anymore!
Lights and other decorations hung from the ceiling. Bright beach decor and sandals hung from the wall.
The colors truly make this place special. It's almost comparable to the brightly colored Iguana Grill or the Purple Parrot restaurants in Rehoboth!
There were also photos of happy customers hanging on the walls. (Including some army photos.) This place supports our troops and you can tell the minute you walk into the store.
What About The Donuts?
After walking in and checking out the atmosphere, we all walked up to the front of the store. Dad looked at me as if he was waiting to hear what I wanted.
I stared in disbelief at the variety of donuts this place had. There was a sign listing all the different flavors. I literally stood there for 15 minutes trying to figure out what kind to try.
Want to see what I mean? Just to name a few...
Imagine not having a clue what kind to try! Besides, this was my first time in this place.
After a good while, Mom and I ended up getting the O.C. Sand donut which had glaze, cinnamon and sugar. I also ordered an iced tea on the side.
My Aunt ordered two of the Morning Buzz donuts, which was a combo of oreo and mocha. I didn't understand why she got two until after I finished my first. You can't have just one!!!!
We went to sit at one of the brightly colored tables and enjoyed our first Fractured Prune doughnuts ever.
Look at the toppings on these things! It's almost better than ice cream topping, no?
Sweet... fresh... delicious... hot... and soft!
I gobbled mine up and was ready for another, but I stopped myself. There were so many choices. I wanted to try another flavor... had to leave room for lunch though!
These donuts were the best donuts I had ever eaten! You have to try them to believe it though.
If you aren't a big donut person, there is also a huge variety of tea and coffee, as well as other goodies you can munch on.
Look out for this place right on 20214 Coastal Highway, when you are heading into Rehoboth and Dewey. It's not hard to miss..
Just look for the prune holding the cup of coffee and donut with a band aid on him! :)
